Writing:
This week we are starting our Narratives/Small Moment Unit! Remember talking about watermelon and seed stories at the beginning of the year? We are circling back around to continue to grow as strong writers! I can't wait to get this unit started! We are starting off this week with oral story-telling.
Head to Seesaw and watch the 4/21 writing mini-lesson. After watching the mini-lesson, send a video of yourself telling about a seed story.
Remember the difference of watermelon vs. seed stories!
Examples: Watermelon=camping trip and seed=roasting hot dogs
watermelon=going on vacation and seed=collecting seashells
Other seed ideas:
-building a sand castle
-jumping off the diving board
-eating a birthday cupcake
-catching a fish
-losing a first tooth
Reading:
We are continuing our Characters Reading Unit together! Head to the Seesaw 4/21 mini-lesson and respond with a video describing a connection between two different characters in two different books. (This can your own stories!) A few examples: Biscuit and Clifford or Pete the Cat and Splat the Cat. You can compare their feelings, actions, or experiences.
*Please also be sure to read for 15 minutes independently!

*Optional* Extras/Additional opportunities:
*Write a letter or card to mail to a friend, family member, or Mrs. Becksfort
*Research something new – this is a great time to learn all about a new topic you've been curious about. Outer space? The Grand Canyon? A famous American? The possibilities are endless!
*Learn to cook or bake something – there is quite a bit of math involved in cooking and baking! Read the recipe, find the ingredients, set the oven, measure the ingredients, assemble the dish, and of course try it when it's done. It's also a great time to help with meals at home -assist in making them, setting the table, and washing the dishes afterwards!
*Do some Fitness- search YouTube for ‘Cosmic Kids Yoga,’ ‘Zumba for Kids,’ or ‘goNoodle.’
*Practice a sport or play a game outside
*Play with some playdoh or magnets
*Take a virtual fieldtrip
*Ask your mom or dad if there is an outside project you can help with...maybe picking up sticks, gathering some brush or leaves, or raking the yard?
